After watching political rallies
After watching political campaigns
After hearing the vitriolic speeches
Of political leaders & lawmakers
I find myself asking a question
What are "we" in a civilised society
I get a metaphorical reply
We are all small scattered islands
Surrounded by a mighty ocean
Shouting abuses at each other
Levelling accusations against each other
Across seas of misunderstanding
Across oceans of misplaced notions
That can only take us to the whirlpool of disaster !
