Climb towards a distant peak

climb higher through the clouds to seek

seek for meaning

seek believing

believing that you'll reach your goal

Believe me, you will pay the toll

toll demanded as a price

toll of human sacrifice

sacrifice upon the pyre

sacrificed within the fire

fire built to purify

fire built to sanctify

sanctify and then proceed

sanctified against the greed

the greed that gnaws from deep within

the greed that sends you in a spin

a spin that turns your head around

a spin that pulls you to the ground

ground that tugs against the will

ground like flour from the mill

the mill that turns under your feet

the mill that feeds on harvest wheat

wheat to make the daily bread

wheat straw laid out for a bed

a bed a place to call your home

a bed a place to rest your bones

bones that bear the weight of flesh

bones picked clean to start afresh

afresh beginning down the road

afresh but squatting sits the toad

the toad with poisonous warty skin

the toad rancid hunched within

within the mind's machinery

within where lies this scenery

scenery stark and so austere

scenery that's fraught with fear

fear but what's the remedy

fear that this is comedy

comedy or tragedy

comedy or alchemy

alchemy turns lead to gold

alchemy's secrets sold

sold your soul to the highest bidder

sold your soul across the river

river Lethe fogs the mind

river's memory unwinds!!!
