I was waiting for you near the temple gate.

With a garland of flowers in my hands

Under a bower

of crimson hues and Kanchan blooms

The madness of Phagun

Melted my heart

In the warmth of your love.

I waited and I waited

for your return.

Many wayfarers passed by

As the wind howled

Shaking the walls of the temple

The incense filled the air around

As the diyas glowed.

The imul flowers made a red carpet

It was as if Mother Nature

Understood my hearts deepest longing

To welcome my love home!
