Peace

Peace, What is it? Where do we find it?

Is it in the open ground under the broken Blue skies?

Or is it over the quiet fountain in the hills?

Or is it hidden in the green caves in the arms of the forest still?

Is it flowing with the water in the river deep,

Or burning in the sun when the moon sleeps?

What is it? Where is it?

It is there- where the heart is happy,

Full of contentment,

When our shoulders and mind are free, 

Free from all the weight and resentment.

The innermost piece of happiness in us,

The innermost piece of peace in us.

Is it the waves hitting the rocks of the sea?

Or the flowers singing to the bee?

Is it the spring touching the trees,

Or the gentle flowing breeze? Where is peace?

What is it? It is there- where the heart is happy,

Full of contentment,

When our shoulders and mind are free, 

Free from all the weight and resentment.

Somewhere when we breathe,

The sound of which can never displease,

And we run for answers no more,

Our hearts forever at ease.

That's the innermost piece of happiness in us,

The innermost piece of peace in us.
