Opposites
Opposites
Don't we all know
That life and death are both not for souls,
That happiness comes with a pinch of sorrow,
That for presence to be worthy demands absence,
That the captive wants to be free just as much the free wants stability,
That ice comes with a touch of heat,
That white loses itself to black,
That echo is followed by silence,
That strength means overcoming the weaknesses,
That pleasure is to be experienced at the cost of pain,
That dusk is just as beautiful as dawn,
That equals can be friends and foes,
That guilty was once innocent,
That vices are simply less celebrated virtues,
That acquaintances today were strangers that day,
That frozen hearts once knew melting,
That nights are known for the day they bring,
That answers are vital for questions exist,
That start leads to finish,
That truth and false are flip sides,
That victories and losses hurt the same,
That war and peace are both personal,
That sweet doesn't neutralize the bitter,
That creation and destruction walk hand in hand.
And also, that love may have its origin in apathy.
Then,
Why can't inverses agree?
*any piece of literature is subjective and thus explaining the meaning would just be my understanding of what I've scripted, but...
This poem illustrates that most opposites either complement each other or walk hand in hand, then, why can't inverses agree? Why is it a big deal when two opposite individuals agree and connect?
