Opportunity Cost
Opportunity Cost
The world is not
A wish-granting factory
We forego an opportunity
To attain the other one.
To decide which one to choose
Is crucial, affects our future
And the many other lives
We have in association.
I also made a decision,
Quite practical, profitable.
Family, friends cheered for me
Saying, "You chose the right one."
I am fine, secure, satisfied, they think
Seeing my fake smile on the video calls
(A mask, to cover my sorrowful state)
They listen to my manipulated cheerful voice
(Hiding my regret, not making deep sighs)
Poor souls, they're being deceived.
I am devastated, lonely, regretful.
The lost opportunity is grief for life
A reminder for not being bold enough
To stand up and fight for my dreams.
I took the road traveled most
Obviously, straight and easy
Leaving the one that
Led to my desired destination.
Yes, the soul-satisfying fulfillment
Is the opportunity cost I paid
For choosing the right one,
For everyone, except me.
