My School
My School
I remember the first day of my school,
when I clung to my father's shoulder,
like a sticky bubble-gum.
I remember the pinned kerchief
on my pinafore I wore,
like a badge of honor.
I remember the two-plaits,
with colorful ribbons decorating my hair,
like a crown.
I remember the fake faint of my friend
being caught by our class teacher,
like a red-handed thief.
I remember standing out
for incomplete homework's,
like a cool back bencher.
I remember picking up dust,
chocolate wrappers from the veranda,
like a responsible Swachh Bharat volunteer.
I remember the english teacher who slapped
my classmate for her ungrammatical reply,
like a stringent Grammar Nazi.
I remember the days
when I loved to scream "the happiest human"
without thinking twice,
like a maniac.
I remember the goodbye I bid
as I clung to the gate,
like the child at first day of school.
