My Country
My Country

Oh! I saw my country burning,
With murder and looting at every turning.
Like a huge sea was it churning,
Man has lost the use of his learning.
Peace and brotherhood is now of the past,
For man now thinks in terms of creed and caste.
With matters deteriorating so fast
Oh! How can my beloved country last?
Sons of the same mother do fight,
Saying it's for the protection of their rights.
There is no safety on the roads at night,
For 'animals' roam these ways in all their might.
When I see those pathetic figures huddled,
Their simple minds so very muddled.
From their paths they have been misled,
Fed on the morsels of communalism and hatred.
O people of my country, raise your sights,
And lift your country to the old heights.
Be to your country a good strong light,
And spread the message of love, for this is right!
