Mother Is Changing
Mother Is Changing
Mother is changing.
Mother is no longer seen in dirty clothes; she is seen all day in trendy jeans,
Taking time out for herself.
Mother is changing.
The smoke of the stove no longer reddens her eyes;
Cooking new recipes now in a smart kitchen.
When not feeling like it, she accepts parcels from Swiggy.
Truly, mother is changing.
She does not stretch her hand helplessly in front of father for money,
Nor is she being beaten up by her mother-in-law and husband.
Carrying all the weight of responsibilities shoulder to shoulder,
Truly, mother is changing.
She does not listen only to old-time melodies;
She does not bear the tantrums of mother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law.
She does not say, "Oh! It's a woman's regular story."
She teaches her son to cook parathas and her daughter karate.
Truly, mother is changing now.
Mother now laughs, dances, lives gracefully, and changes over time as she wishes.
But... her steps stop when her child cries.
Is mother really changing?
The answer is: Mother is totally changing, but her love,
Her love has not changed.
And in this age today, the need is for this changed mother… who has evolved over time, with society, with children, with the generation.
Because change is a sign of progress.
