Modern Day Narakasuras!!

It's Diwali all around, all around the city

Vendors, adults, and children are busy

The aroma of fresh ghee travelled quickly 

And bloated up the alveoli so swiftly

The sound of crackers spreading joyfully

Greetings knocked on the phone overflowingly!

None could brighten up her day

Her thoughts pondered in their way 

She sat there still and numb

Not doing anything but grumble

Anger bubbled up to her throat

Tears flowed down her red eyes

Betrayers, backstabbers, molesters

Aren't they modern-day Narakasuras?

Shouldn't we fight against these asuras?

Her image reflected in the nearby mirror

Doubting if her inner self is clear

Truthfulness and kindness - her identity

She thanked herself with much beauty

For not being one such narakasura

For not letting in these asuras! 

Her anger vanished far away

She stepped quickly into a brightened day

Lighting the lamp of happiness

Smelling the aroma of freshness 

She greeted everyone with kindness
