It was no ordinary thing that called her away,

And was probably farther from ordinary than anything that had ever happened...

Cold morning and it had always been a lonesome-looking place;

Scrutinizing the place as they drew up to it,

A moment of feeling she couldn't cross the threshold,

And the reason it seemed she couldn't cross it now was because she hadn't crossed it before...

Time and time again it had been in her mind,

Asking, are things just as you left them yesterday?

It's just the same often wandered along and got things mixed up in the story...

Saying things he didn't need to say,

I didn't see or hear anything,

I knocked again, louder I thought hearing somebody and opened the door;

Kind of dull like,

We may have looked as if we didn't see how; that could be as I sleep sound...

Maybe it wasn't scared, I wouldn't like to say it was more to herself than to him;

And your mean they didn't get on very well,

Keep your eye out as if releasing herself from something too strange,

So got a little of this on she looked around;

For some reason, not finished;

I wonder if it's all gone, broken upon her;

I think maybe that's why she kept so much to herself,

She had that shrinking manner and yet her eyes looked as if they could see a long way into things...

Does goodness know?

In a voice that seemed to shrink...

Something to show anger or sudden feeling,

Her eyes made a slow, almost unwilling turn,

When things begin and not finished...
