Lovely to Lifeless
Lovely to Lifeless
An alluring flower grows
From a soft tiny bud,
Looks like a shining pearl
In a huge block of mud.
The flower caught the attention
Of every passerby,
We would praise its beauty
Our hearts are full of joy.
We enjoyed its fragrance
And devoured it with our eyes,
Used it in prayers and rituals
It was pure as the sunrise.
But soon came a day
The wind was around,
It hit the tree and flowers
They fell to the ground.
The same beautiful flower
That caught every eye,
Lay helpless on the earth
Staring at the sky.
Those people who’d pause
And stare at it for a long,
Now stepped on it unnoticed
As they walked along.
Lost its golden hue
That attracted all at first,
It was thrown with the trash
Worth no more than dust.
Something full of charm
Will lose it all one day,
Nothing’s always lovely
Nothing's always stray.
