Leering in the light
Leering in the light
this sunset has betrayed me
like you did that afternoon
it's all grey in front of my eyes
one corpse, two corpses, three corpses…
used to be vivid golden orange
horizon’s blue and green melting into
a splash of blood
violet emerging from the depths
of the earth
to cover up everything in
darkness.
I remember the water swimming
all around us
when they tried to drown me
our friends, that is
for kicks.
you stood on the beach
sipping margaritas with an
orange peel twirled around your
middle finger.
nobody was there
when I regained consciousness
choking, coughing
floating under the moonlight
bleeding from my ears.
I never saw you again
until this grey sunset
cast its fleeting embers
to leer at your shadow
on the road
while I leer from the overhead
Bridge.
