Last days of june

Last days of june

Oh so hot ! Oh so sweaty !

A famous saying every summer morning.

The sunny noons,

with hot wind and silence

everywhere.

Soon my friend it will be August

just in a day or two.

Patience ! Is the best but,

Where is that ? Where will we find it ?

Oh lord! Please help us.

Cried the villagers.

It has been a tough summer

for the villagers and the kids

Crops are in deep trouble

And so are the melting ice cream

A minute it's there and the next moment it will be gone,

Dripping all over the body.

All of a sudden a freshness in the air

has been let loose.

Just like the winds have gotten life with

Hitting our faces

and asking us to wake up.

The kids in the dry fields

were running with joy.

The elders were back in their shops.

And aunts went back to their chatting business.

The village was back to life

They played near the well and

Tip … Tip…

Their shoulders were getting wet.

Running back to the village

Mom! Dad! Uncle! Auntie!

Shyam! Monti !

Everybody hurried to see what was wrong

Tip … Tip…  Tip… Tip…

All shoulders got wet!

All of them shouted …

Rains have arrived.

And in no time it was pouring

It's like gods are blessing their blessings.

Everyone went back to their houses.

It got late and no one knew.

At midnight, in the month of June.

I stand beneath the mystic moon.

Glaring at the glittering sky.

Soon it will be the month of August

And the warmth will be gone.

It’s time we welcome the rains and say -

BYE ! BYE ! heat.

I stand beneath the vanishing moon

Waiting for the sun.

But the clouds were walking

up to the sun and taking over and

Tip ! Tip ! Tip!
