She knew…

She always does,

She exactly knew

Where my other sock was

She knew by heart

Where goes salt and paprika

She knew every birthday and anniversary

[It's new (slowly wrings hands)

Everyone and everything,

From décor to dust,

From people to photos,

Wait, what was I saying?

What is the time now?]

She didn't have the need to memorize

She didn't train herself to be perfect

She knew her way with people

She understood, helped, loved

Everyone she knew of

Suddenly…

Everything

Faded

Fainted

And disappeared.

[I don’t realize…

I don’t recognize and

I don’t remember (continues hand wringing)

I think I have a problem

I think I am being a burden

I think I forgot something important

I …wait, what was I saying?]

She showed me the world I knew today

She taught me how to walk, speak and swallow

She told me to be good, kind.

She asked me to remember kind gestures

She warned me not to forget

The people who helped me,

She told me it is a sin

To ignore people

But,

She never told me to be prepared

For the day, when she will ask

WHO ARE YOU?

She never told me she would

Ignore her daughter,

She would live in isolation,

And would never look me in the eye and say

LOVE YOU, SWEETY!

[ I feel like shredding into

Thousand pieces…I feel like…

I feel…

I …

(silence)]

She doesn’t speak anymore

She doesn’t call my name fondly

She doesn’t even know me

But,

She needs me and I need her.
