India
India

As I walk along, I see
People of a nation which is free
Physically, but not mentally.
Chained by narrow mindsets and thoughts.
My India boasts of being the largest
democracy in the world
But is pregnant with poverty, corruption and exploits its land.
It reminds me of a girl, I met
On a seashore, her poised body, wet
With the sea, crying
She says, ‘I'm India on which lying
Are the weights of a billion girls' tears
Suppressed, scolded.’
Fear of being raped and killed hover around me.
And until everyone is happy and content,
We are not really free.
