India, why do I still see you struggling?

Then, why do I still see you struggling?

 

Aren't the people who have been given your reins directing you to the right path?

Have they kept you starving?

Have they not bathed you with milk?

I still see their promises engraved on the sand.

Why do I see these people fill their coffers with gifts meant for you?

Why are you bound in your own house by your very servants?

Servants must serve; not be served.

When they refuse to obey, you must punish them.

Why are you quiet?

You were a servant yourself not very long ago then why turn into one again?

It's painful to see you being ill-treated by these ungrateful servants.

I would like to slay them but they have connived against me and made my sword blunt.

Only you can sharpen my sword.
