In Vain
In Vain
I sought all night, my light and fame.
I fought the moon and stole his name.
I met many men but left none sane.
And when the sun rose, I died in vain.
I laughed in loss and laughed in my gain.
I drowned my fears in this endless rain.
I robbed the world of the joy I claim.
But when the sun rose, I died on vain.
I chased them away, my grief and shame.
I captured the beast but images him tame.
I hunted and fought and then slayed my bane.
Still when sun rose, I died on vain.
I lived all night then I died in vain.
I killed my death then died in pain.
I died in vain, I died in pain.
And the shadow of the of this pain is all that will remain.
