It's been ages since we broke up,

The why or how it has long stopped mattering,

The possibilities if we hadn't parted ways, too have become irrelevant,

The flow of life has carried me far,

From where I stand today our shared past seems distant,

Almost phantasmagorical,

It took an effort but I had moved on,

With rusted memories having finally settled,

Like an old shipwreck at the bottom of the sea.

However I don't know why,

But it was just yesterday,

When in a moment of quiet solitude,

I found myself wondering...

If you still smiled like you always did?

If you still tied your hair like you always did?

If you still looked like you always did?

If you still smelt like you always did?

And, if ever, I was to meet you again,

Would I still love you...

Just as I always did?
