If I Could
If I Could
If only I could do, all that I wanted to
I may not move the mountain, but clear a boulder or two
I may not move a nation, but eke out an action true
If only I could do, than doubting the intent to
If only I could do, to let out the fun of the move
I may not be the champion, with my name on who’s who
I could still be the companion, amidst a simple “woo-hoo!”
If only I could do, than waiving the intent to
If only I could do, without crafting an outward show
I may not design a language, nor set up an institute
I could still learn to reach out, find someone to stand next to
If only I could do, than lurking on the intent to
If only I could see, how the ones do what they do
I would see them latch on to, simply act on what they knew
I would see them struggle with glee, continue to wear out the shoe
If only I could see, I’d say “even I could, if I wanted to!”
If only I could do, I would efface my “if” view
I would declare to my honest self, my intent simply through
I would move the line, scribble an act, take forth a step or two
If only I could do, I’d watch me doing it too!
