I Will Rise

A past that haunts me.

Sounds that echo. 

Images keep flashing.

I see darkness,

Enveloping my dreams.

I see people, grinning

With evil teeth.

At times,

Looking back gets harder.

Turning around is tough.

Yet, I look back.

There's still hope.

Crack on these walls,

Break in the light;

The promises I made

A hopeful night.

I will run;

Continue to run,

Towards the goal of my life.

All these words, actions,

Are just tricks to kick in.

I will, rise.
