I Return

On the pyre, 

I listen to the exequy, 

You don't come 

And 

You don't sing 

Though 

I want to listen 

To your dulcet voice. 

Every time, 

I am cremated, 

You never come 

To collect my ashes. 

Failing to rise 

Like a Phoenix 

From the ashes, 

I drop hope, 

I drop life 

And 

I return to myself 

To not flounder any more 

For the impossible.
