I Am A Soldier

I am a soldier,

I’m always on my feet.

Come the icy winters,

or, the scorching summer heat.

When it’s time to rest,

you have your cozy beds.

For us it’s just the sky, 

and a rock under our heads.

The outpost is my home,

the border is my lawn.

For when I stand steadfast, 

the enemy is long gone.

I think of my son all day,

all the time, and even at night.

His tiny hands and innocent smile,

gives me the courage, to keep up the fight.

My family is just a picture,

within my throbbing heart.

For, I am a soldier,

I must play my part.

Out of the blue we get some visitors,

they call us brothers and kin.

We very well recognize them,

they are the wolves in sheep skin.

They stand behind their mics,

talk of great courage and battle.

When a tiny bullet flies by,

you could see their knees rattle.

Wake in spirit my countrymen,

with valor we die in the glyn.

While we vanquish the outside enemy,

you slay the enemy within.

For, when the time comes we all are soldiers,

rise with intrepidity in your heart.

We must protect our motherland,

we ought to do our part.
