Falling
Falling
Like drowning –
When the light that once embraced me
At the water's surface
Now treats me like a stranger.
Like burning –
When my skin, screaming at the flames,
Driven by their lust,
Deliberately ignores me.
Like sleeping –
When my eyelids, feeling heavy,
Fall victim to the darkness.
Like jumping
Into the abyss,
Seeking enlightenment
With your feet
Headed for the void.
Like falling –
So is death.
And every day we fall,
The earth calling us home.
So, as I
Fall to earth,
I choose to live
A life free of regret.
