Essence Of Life
Essence Of Life
As I lay staring at the sky azure,
On the warm sandy beach floor
Pondering over the truths of life
About the joys that brought a smile,
And about the grief that cut like a knife
The sea stretched out before me,
Calm, soothing and serene
As the waves foamed onto the shore,
I watched as nestling learned to soar
The sea made me feel so small,
Yet never had I felt so free
The warm wind teased my hair,
And lured me into a lazy lair
I felt at peace.
I watched the sand slipping off my fingers
And realised that life had become a race of numbers
Percentage, kilogram, years and rupees
For my life and the future to come,
I wanted the courage to pursue more
For to cross the mighty ocean,
You have to lose sight of the shore.
