Earth's Soft Apocalypse
Earth's Soft Apocalypse
The revolution will be soft:
After the dust has settled
On the rubble
On the remains
On the ruins
Of a millennium worth of human creations,
I will stand on the edge of destruction
And let it decay and decompose
Until only remains the growth
Until the growth blooms
Until the bloom prospers.
The grey damage will be girdled with green
And the brown underneath shall glow like gold
My womb shall birth trees and peace
My chest shall expel clean air
My hands shall learn to nurture again.
The moon shall meet, back in their rhythm,
Her friend, the ocean again.
The ocean will now rise and fall
The ocean will now bless all land
The ocean will now bury the end.
The ocean will sing to the sun
And soothe his seething anger
He will learn the calm of the moon
He will learn the contained force of my forests
He will learn the tenderness of my soul.
The revolution will be soft, but it will be invincible.
