Dreams Of A Girl.

The sun rises in the east as the world sleeps,

there is a city in this vast world

where a starry-eyed girl imagines a future,

in the tent like confines of her cotton sheet,

she covers herself with on a balmy summer morning,

the fan whirring on impatiently, asking Time,

to linger on for a little while more.

She dreams of love stories, missions impossible,

championship glories, film acting stories, intrepid exploring,

being a gymnast of extraordinary caliber,

some awards at the Grammys too!

All the hopes of the world, dancing just outside her window,

high above the poplar trees nodding in assent.

The blue skies wink at her as she peeks out of the

corner of her make-believe tent,

a bird chirrups away a song of hope.

“She will rise, she will be free, she will be all she dreams”.

The roads of life beckon this little girl, so loved by family

in a house she calls home sweet home.

She smiles her naughty smile, her wishes fly onwards

to horizons paved with rainbows of blessings.

It is just a matter of time, it is just a matter of time.

Shine on, shine on, says the wind as it swishes on by.
