Destiny

When We are born our fate is decided,

If he is a boy an engineer or Doctor.

If she is a girl marry her off, crush her dreams.

Your destiny is in their hands if you want to grow.

If you are a boy it's all right they say with an indulgent smile.

If you are a girl and want to grow, they show you your place.

You protest, they say he is a boy he can go anywhere.

While you have to remain under our care.

Or else what will people say, If you freely move about.

No boy will come forward to marry you.

For you will remain a spinister all your life.

That will cause us great strife.

That is your destiny if you are born a girl in this country.

Bound by unseen chains you will never be free.

If you break the unseen shackles in your life.

You should know how far you will go.

To make it past the finishing tape.

Then every man will come to know.

That you are equally capable too.

To compete with the men in whatever they do.

For when you carve your own destiny,

Chose your own way, you will reach your goal.

Irrespective of what people will say.
