Circle of Life

This sonnet came to my mind while posting a picture of my son that was clicked a few months back at Havelock Island.

Circle of Life 

We sit together as another day comes to an end.

Thy face glows with the sun’s reflection in twinkling eyes.

In thy eyes, I see my image and a world yet to ascend.

The night is not far and yet I see a million dawns rise.

What my dad must have thought, I now comprehend.

Thy countless dreams with an unwavering belief that underlies.

Tis the wings of thy expectations, on which I depend.

O God, make me worthy, as therein my challenge lies.

I have my demons and fears which consume me sometime.

Make me tremble and weave a web of doubts in my mind.

Do we both have unrealistic expectations to be best & sublime?

Will we be good together and leave a fitting legacy behind?

Soon there be a day, thou too shall be staring at a face.

Thy son will look up with twinkling eyes and thou will be at my place.
