Can You Imagine?
Can You Imagine?
Can you imagine a hypothetical poet?
Capable of being male and female
(Depending on topic or subject)?
Capable of changing shape
From the human form to an animal?
Morphing from one to another
Without prejudice, bias, or preference
Their focus is to chase the moment
Capture it, examine it; bring it to words
Imagine the descriptive power of that poet
Can you imagine it? It’s not hard
It is the pinnacle every poet tries to reach
And lose themselves in, a swirling maze
Of thoughts and feelings clamouring for attention
Demanding priority. It surely is a process
Of increasing immersion, going deep
Into a mysterious state of being
Pause, a moment; them a moment more
Is this process-wise, desirable or safe?
Let us examine this hypothetical self
In the human form. A priori, he/she is flesh
Yes? Not a river, or a stream of consciousness
(No, he/she, however, is open to and responsive to
Changes in the environment, emotional states
And changes in the particular situation)
Where’s their focus? You might demand
Their centre? Their sense of being?
Lost in an eternal flow of stimulus and response
Ever changing, form and deforming
Under creation and re-creation
Yes? No? Maybe? A question fully understood
Is already half-answered!
