As He Holds Me
As He Holds Me
Strong hands wrap around my body
My lungs stop working silently
My eyes close like its muscle memory
I feel nothing but his presence behind me
His subtle beard pricks my neck
But goosebumps raise all along my body
I stay as still as I can, and see the mirror
What a mistake it was to see my fear
His nails pierce into my waist as he holds me
Though I bleed from in between my legs, down my body
I don't whimper after these 3 years anymore
The numbness spreads across my body like an antidote.
My husband, he later picks me up from the floor
As I lay so still like a lifeless doll
Don't! Stop! No! Are words that have no meaning anymore.
Day after day this routine has become my life now.
