Admiring Winter Skies
Admiring Winter Skies
There are still times
That I direct my gaze toward the sun
And let its light and the pale blue sky
Hit my eyes just right
So that the brightest bright
Pierces and illuminates my skull
Clearing the haze and weight
By age accumulated
And then I find myself standing upright
Taller than I was before
As my soul reaches back to my youth
And lets me breathe in wholly for a second
Escaping the state of constant constriction
Before I fall back in my skin.
