Born with these fairytales around,

Largely homed in juvenile's mind.

But how this society works in real,

Wonder if these are helping evolution.

Adorned herself with bindi & kajal,

Went downstreet to fulfil her desire.

Adorned twinkling of independence,

Could reverse low face with happiness.

In midst of life's hustle-bustle,

Encountered an unknown stranger.

Said a big "No" to his requirements,

Got attacked by the acid chemicals.

Felt like an end to her unending dreams,

Searched for her left ear and pink skin.

Morning to evening burned in thinking,

Kept on asking "why me" in beginning.

From being "she" to "subject" is her new identity,

Stood up to face a distorted world with new beauty.

Understood that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder,

Questioned if the test is necessary for realisation.

Need to redefine the shallow meaning of beauty,

The moon shines even when it's contaminated.

Stop teaching and expecting perfection,

Look beyond the dermis for real attention.
