A Note To My Younger Self
A Note To My Younger Self

From the time you crawled you were not fast enough
To the point you started running when you were cursed for not being tough
You were bullied, You were depressed
You wanted to scream but your emotions were suppressed
You disguised tears with your soulful laugh
You rollicked around with broken heart
You fell so bad that your knee bled
But you rose again running fast instead
You feared the dark, you feared being groped
You sprinted fast to save yourself from being choked
You feared animals since they were beasts
But you forgot that the man following you on the dark alley was no less a cheat
>
You hated men because they robbed you of your modesty
But it was a man again you loved for all his honesty
To my younger self you are a woman, the harbinger of life
The life of both a male and a female
You are power, you are goddess, you are strength beyond fathom
You will rise from the ashes like the phoenix,
You will behold your trident and once you do the monsters would fear
For you have the virtue to kill, to protect, to set an example, to retaliate
Rise and rise so high that the life you so vehemently carry in your womb for months
Knows that a woman is more than beauty and can fiercely confront
