A Farmer's Tale

A Farmer's Tale

Hey you!

Don't mourn near my graveyard,

Don't feel bad, don't feel sad.

I am dead today, but, believe me all;

I was dying daily, since time immemorial.

I always fight for you, for your food;

I burn my sweat, to grow your fat.

But, today I am dead;

Because of hunger, poverty,

My blood is colourless now, which was once red.

Isn't it strange! Isn't it?

I produce food, but don't get enough to eat.

But forget, I am dead now;

And it's not going to hamper your life,

Only it will ruin the future of my children,

My old parents and my young wife.

But you!!

Don't console my family,

Nothing is going to change with your sympathy,

Please stop your filmy tears,

Don't show me your fake empathy.

I know, I am son of the mother earth;

I will work, die and will again take birth.

To fight for your food, to help you to stay alive;

Yes I am a farmer,

And daily I die.
