A DEBATE

A DEBATE

Awakened from my sleep, a little before dawn

To the chirpings of two birds and a loud big yawn,

Two little sparrows in deep conversation –

Twittering about new laws and policies in action.

I drag myself to the window and see them hop

More energetic than I am, they don’t seem to stop,

Some serious debate definitely, did the sensex pirouette?

Or did the ‘system’ blunder again into another messy racket?

Must be the covidiots –

my usual thoughts swayed,

Promptly flew in the chirps, we’re going to be waylaid,

They leap off from the window sill in another acrobatic flight,

Their discussion tethered along till they were in sight.

They chimed back instantly for they had more news in store –

Humans stripped of morals to fill their petty coffers more,

The sparrows now cooed and trailed off in a silent gloom,

Man has embraced every vice to perish in that doom.
