Jingle Bells
Jingle Bells
Hark! O listener,
The gentle swish of the Northern zephyr, with carols on its wings trailing
As the stars in the firmament, twinkle with greetings
From Father Christmas in the sledging.
Time for the hearth to be the site of every planning, blessings from
Beyond the horizon with the pure joy of giving.
Behold! O mortal,
The December night sky guiding once again
The Magi to the Messiah; to salvage the world of suffering and pain.
Behold the icicles clambering down from the window tight,
Yearning to meet their frosty mates, shrouding all in dazzling white.
Tarry! O traveller,
For the winter frost conceals warmth of spring within,
Chiming with the bells of myriad hues – gold, silver, red, green and blue,
That adorns the arms of silent fir trees,
Ostentatiously erected for the festivities;
Rum cakes and apple pies, treacle tarts and jelly-jujubes--
This flavour of Christmas is for you, O darlings!
