Food is something that has always been on our pleasure plate when it comes to social gatherings.
Birthdays? Let’s eat out.
Team lunch? Lunch.
Corporate dinner? Dinner.
Social gatherings? Let’s eat.
Candlelight dinners? Yes, add some wine and champagne too. Oh wait, she loves vodka too. Get that man.
We are a part of this culture where we celebrate everything with food. I’m no different. I come from the same league of humans too. What I’ve observed is, these parties or social gatherings are generally over the weekends, so that means 4-6 weekends every month.
What do we do the other days of the month? (No I’m not talking about tapri ki chai and sutta). We stick to our staple foods. Yes. Since the last so many years of being an adult, and also all the years when you were forced and choked to eat the vegetables, we grew up eating our staple foods.
Dal, Rice, Chapatis, etc.
Upma/Poha/Bread etc.
Eggs/Paneer/Cheese etc.
Chicken/Fish/Prawns etc.
These were the foods we majorly ate while we grew up and also these are the same foods we will be pushing it to the next generation. If you ask your mother/grandmother about the groceries you order every month, they will tell you the same story.
What I mean to say is, these are the foods that you eat even while you are not following any diet, yes. That’s a staple. That’s the default eating pattern. We just need to put it into our routine and destroy all the targets, like a boss.
Boredom comes from missing the foods that you wanted to eat, by following a way too restrictive eating pattern. Focus on the long-term goals. It should not feel like a punishment. It should not be a burden.
It should make you feel better.
