I Am My Own Superhero

As kids, we all were fascinated by superpowers and I am sure even you would have secretly wished to be one of the superheros, like me.

Among the plethora of superheros, we were always spoilt for choice, from Shaktimaan, Powerpuff Girls, Superman, Spiderman to Batman, Ironman and the list goes on.

I remember how after watching Shaktimaan even I would rotate by myself enacting him with the superpowers, try to make hand gestures to secrete web like Spiderman, fly across the room like a superman wearing a dupatta, masquerade my face like batman, stand in front of the mirror for minutes to activate my third eye ( laughs) and what not ? The fact that I am not a damsel in distress but a warrior with superpower itself would light up my energy and I would imagine situations where I would be doing a somersault and saving the kids like Krish and many other fantasies( Haha).

But as I grew up and started to experience life, I realized I needn't have any supernatural power to make myself a superhero. I, being myself itself was the best superpower gift and I could acknowledge so many other real human superheros around me.

In today's society when women fear to travel late alone for obvious safety issues, here I was on my own insistence, accompanying a blind girl upstairs to the platform. When I enquired she mentioned it's her daily schedule, by 9pm she reaches station, has a rose milkshake from the counter we met today and boards the train of 9.20 pm. The fact that inspite of being blind she was so bold and courageous made me her fan, she became my superhero since that day.

The truth that a famous dancer and actress, Sudha Chandran lost her leg owing to an unfortunate accident but that didn't deter her passion from dancing and she bounced back, that's a superpower. The kindness and generosity showered by people like Ratan Tata Sir, Sonu Sood during this COVID crisis and all front liners serving humanity in this pandemic they posses real superhero qualities.

The surprising revelation that successful artists of today such as Abhishek Bachchan were a dyslexia student, Hrithik used to stammer in childhood showcase being resilient and having a strong will are actually true superpowers.

These real-time superheroes and many I meet in my daily life not only inspire me but have also made me realize that superheroes aren't maketh with supernatural or extraordinary prowess but real superpower signifies having a compassionate heart in this competing world and strong willpower to overcome the crisis and realize our potential is limitless.

Let's retain the innocence and a loving heart of a kid as we serve humanity and try to be the best version of ourselves. I am gonna have this superpower, what about you?
