One Step Behind
One Step Behind
In between the crowded, rabbled woods,
I saw her gravely recall;
With infinite prospects crowding her mind,
She was dazzled with them all.
She looked around in all the paths,
Inferring all to be pleasing,
She yet had to choose just a single,
The one, the most amusing.
Bewildered and astonished,
Perplexed she stood;
Bamboozled in between,
All the roads good.
The trees were all green,
The woods all appealing.
The grass showcasing options bright,
Fell closer to her, kneeling.
I saw her take a step behind,
I saw her walking back.
I saw her breathing calm in peace,
Sedating the greenest track.
I found a stillness in her soul,
When I decided to ponder;
Anxious with what would she do,
My pulse began to wonder.
Which path would she choose ,
Which road would she take;
The woods were all amusing,
But she had bonds to make.
I see her shut her eyes to sleep,
And let her conscious loose;
Listening to the winds calling her,
So she gets to select her muse.
All the routes did call her name,
But one had love to render;
It was then she recognised ,
The only woods embracing tender.
And now I see a content girl,
Breathing in my reflections,
Smiling at that one step backwards,
Which led to all exceptions.
