What If Summers Hadn't Existed

"Ahh! I'm sweating. The sun will burn me if I stay out. I'm going home." Marvin says as he turns towards his house from the street. The sun is blazing and it's the month of June. He rushes towards his house. He feels back normal after entering his house because of the air conditioning system.

"Mom, I love winters. Atleast I can go out and play with my friends." Marvin says as he enters the kitchen to drink some juice. "You can still wake up early in the morning and go out. There's no sun then." But Marvin heads towards his room looking quite sad. He spends his whole evening playing videogames on his phone.

Suddenly the light goes out. Marvin turns on the flashlight of his phone and goes downstairs to the living room. "Mom! What happened to the lights?" He said as he entered the living room.

"I think it's a blackout, Marvin." Mom replied, "Come eat dinner." Marvin sits on the chair with the dining table and starts to eat the dinner in the little light of his phone's flashlight. Gradually it starts to get hotter due to the air conditioning unit not working. "It's too hot Mom." Marvin said as the picks up the tissue to clean his hands after he finishes eating the dinner. "You have to bear it for some time until this issue gets fixed." said Mom.

Marvin picks his phone and goes back upstairs to his room. He opens the window of this room for some ventilation. He goes on his mobile again but after some time his phone also shuts down due to low battery. The only light now in the room is the light from moon coming through the front window.

He is just tired and he goes to bed. But the temperature is too much and he is constantly sweating. "I wish these summers hadn't existed!" He shouts as he turns on the bed. Marvin thinks what if these summers hadn't existed while his head is on the pillow and he is about to sleep.

It is November and the winters have just started. The cold air strikes the window of Marvin's room. But Marvin is just enjoying the beautiful season. As days pass on, the cold increases. One day Marvin wakes up and he sees through the window that the snow is falling. "Hurray! The first snow of the season." He says as he jumps out of the bed to open the closet.

Few minutes later, he is dressed to go out and play with his friends in the snowfall. For hours, he plays and enjoys in the snow. Days and weeks pass on and the cold increases. The snow constantly falls and gathers in the front yard of Marvin's house too. He has to clean it daily just like his fellows.

It snows too much that year due to the severity of winter that it becomes a big problem for all the people. Marvin, as other people, is also tired of shoveling the snow daily. Now he is waiting for summers to arrive so he doesn't has to spend two hours daily shoveling the snow.

But the winters don't seem to be ending, even in February. Roads, houses are full of snow. Many houses have fallen and many people have died due to snow. Transportation has become very hard and even food is scarce in the country. The schools have been closed for two months now and Marvin is also bored at home. "Marvin! Go clean the front yard." Mom says as she enters the room. Marvin goes out in despair, he is feeling cold. He is tired and this temperature below 0 degrees is making him frozen as well. "Ahh!" Marvin says as he fell down because his legs are frozen. He is struggling to get up but he can't. He screams...

"Oh My God!" Marvin says as he wakes up from this horrible dream. He realizes that he was just dreaming this all. He is sweating but he is feeling relieved due to warmness. Now he realizes that God has created every season for a reason. Now the electric power is restored, the lights turn on and the AC starts working again. He promises himself that he will not hate any season because everything has been created for a reason. Thinking this, he puts his head on the pillow and goes to a comfortable sleep.
