Two daughters

Two daughters were born in a span of two years. To be honest, I was not happy. My dreams remained unfulfilled. My dream was to have a son play in my lap, but when my good husband said, "We will raise only two daughters and make them capable, Sneha. Why are you longing for a son? In today's era of inflation, more than two children. It is also in the interest of the country. Similarly, there is a lot of population in the country. If you have a son after two daughters, then your attention will be more towards the son due to which the daughters will feel despised. I do not want to let this happen. Our little family, a happy family.”

I understood what my husband said to some extent, but an unfulfilled dream remained in my mind.

Together we gave both daughters a good education a good culture and a good personality. The elder daughter became a doctor and the younger daughter became an engineer. Both the daughters were married to good boys with great pomp and show. The elder son-in-law is a doctor and the younger son-in-law is an engineer. Both the daughters got their desired life partners. We were very happy so we started living happily. Whatever property we had, my husband divided it in half between our two daughters. When the elder daughter said, "We don't need your property, father. You keep your property to yourself." Then my husband replied, "You are the heir of our house. After us, both of you sisters will take care of our property together."

The daughter said, “You are not going anywhere right now, father.”

"Someday or the other we will have to go, son. Yes, I want to say one thing, if I go first then take care of your mother."

"And what if I go first?" I had spoken.

"Is this something to be said, Mom, Dad? Why are you guys saying this? It is our duty to take care of both of you." Kritika said.

"I am saying this because both the sons of my friend Brijesh have settled in America. Now they have no one to support them in their old age. When two sons were born, Brijesh was very proud thinking that two heirs were born. He also told me, “Take one more chance, Amulya, maybe a son will be born for the third time. You will definitely have an heir after you." I also said laughingly. "Only my daughters will become heirs." I don't want a son." said my good husband.

After her father's demise, elder daughter Kritika opened a hospital in her father's name on the land that her father had given her while dividing the property. He named the hospital 'Amulya Arogya Kendra' after his father. Her father had transferred his house in the name of younger daughter Amrita. Amrita opened a free school for children in that house and named the school 'Sneha Vidyalaya' after my name. Both the daughters immortalized the name of their parents. Today I am proud of my daughters. There are no more unfulfilled dreams left in my mind.

Who says that only boys become heirs and not girls? Wherever Kritika and Amrita's father are today, seeing him from there, his chest would be filled with pride thinking "After me, my daughters have kept our name high and kept us alive."

My daughters changed my perspective with their actions. There is no resentment in the mind about not having a son.
