We know that sometimes some trips helps us to escape from the daily routine busy life and from all kinds of household/domestic chores. Similarly, in the year 2018 my parents, grandmother and I went to Delhi. We resided in a popular Government residence named 'Shantinibas'. It was quite spacious and overall had a good ambience. We were a bit tired after our journey by train so we rested in our respective rooms for about half an hour. My father had booked 2 rooms : - one in which my parents and I would rest and another for my beloved grandmother. This was the first time we had come up in this hotel and luckily our rooms were adjacent. Now, you all(means the readers) might wonder that why my grandmother would stay all alone in a room ! But actually the fact is she being an aged lady is extremely courageous and till then wherever we went for a trip we had never wondered whether she would be able to stay all alone in a room because we were accustomed to it and she herself had enough confidence in her.

Then, we had set off from our hotel to visit the historical sites like the Red Fort, Qutb Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple, India Gate etc. It was an appealing experience. My mother, being a renowned history teacher, helped me to know more about the historical places specifically. I was very curious to visit all those remaining historical places. But at the end of the day everyone was too exhausted to visit any more!! So, it was decided that we all would rest that day and again set off the next day. Likewise, we all got freshened up and my beloved grandmother also came to our room for a nice chat about that very day’s experience. As we were deeply engulfed in our chatting, one of the staff of the hotel knocked at our door and informed us that it was already 10:20pm and suggested to have our dinner. Personally, I was very disturbed by the interruption in our ongoing conversation but soon realised that it was already too late! Hence, we all had a wholesome dinner and somehow we felt very sleepy. Then, my grandmother wished us “Goodnight” and we all too wished her. The next day, my mother went to grandmother’s room and she said that she did not have a satisfying sleep last night. When my mother asked the reason behind it she said that somehow she felt uneasy. My mother, burning with curiosity asked her to tell exactly what happened. My grandmother very casually narrated that after combing her hair when she kept her comb in the nearby drawer and switched off the lights she realised that the drawer had popped out! This may seem very practical as it may be a spring default or something but on the other hand it is very usual for someone to get afraid when suddenly the drawer popps out! Similarly, when she switched off the A.C, it turned off but after sometime it again started seemingly out of its own! She also carried on by telling “It may be a fault in the remote” but it was somehow uneasy for her.

This was all about the 1st time when we resided in this government residence !

The second time we visited Delhi and resided again in that hotel was a new experience for us because this time we had come to Delhi as my grandmother’s mother had demised. SO, she stayed in her mother’s house but to avoid any kind of inconvenience my parents and I rested in the nearby hotel “Shantinibas”. This time, we had booked only 1 room as 1 room was sufficient to accommodate 3 people. My mother identified that this very room was just the same room in which grandmother resided in 2018 i.e the 1st time we visited Delhi altogether as the picture above the bed was the same and the room no too. So, after all the sightseeing and dining in a restaurant we all went to sleep in our hotel. My mother had overeaten as a result of which she was not at all feeling sleepy but on the contrary my father and I were fast asleep. My father was on the left side, I was in the middle and my mother on the other side. After some time, my mother recalled the experiences of my grandmother in that very room and soon heard a sound which gradually became frequent and was quite disturbing. The sound was as if the door of the lift was being dragged forward and again pushed back. My mother was afraid but somehow gained little courage and tried to avoid that noise. But that sound was somehow not leaving her and soon she became the prey of darkness and fear. The room was L-shaped and the washroom was near our bed. My mother went to the washroom to switch on the light and kept the door slightly open to have apparent satisfaction. But she was experiencing an uncanny feeling and she also made father hear that noise. But father, being too tired, gave no importance to it and again fell asleep. My mother, without disturbing my sleep, came in the middle and tightly tucked me under her arms and at last fell asleep at sometime. The next day she told that she woke up early and had desperately went out to clarify what happened last night!!

When she returned, I heard her telling to father with a mysterious smile that there was no lift near our room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
