The Thief

One day a rich merchant came to king Akbar with a complaint saying he was a robber last night and he suspects one of his servants did it.

Akbar heard his story and called all five of the merchant's servants in the courtroom. He asked them to confuse if they had committed the theft but none of them replied. Akbar immediately turned to Birbal and said " Solve this oh wise Birbal"

Birbal whispered something in the ears of the royal servant who went out and bought 5 sticks of equal length. Birbal gave one stick to each servant and said" Come tomorrow to the courtroom with these sticks, these are magical sticks, the stick of the robber will grow two inches automatically"

The next day, the court session began, the servants showed their sticks, Birbal immediately pointed out to the one whose stick was shorter and said," Here is the thief sir, he thought his stick would grow and so he cut it short to save himself"

Moral: Truth will come out and win always.
