The Long Cherished Wish....

As a small child and youngster, I always stayed with my parents in a village and never thought of owning a house of my own, as I was never out of my comfort zone.

But after graduation, I had to move to a different city in search of a job. My living in the big city was never easy in the initial years. There were people of different cultures and customs, speaking different languages. Anyone moving to a new city has to adopt the city’s culture and learn to speak new languages. So, I slowly adjusted myself to the city life.

I lived in many rented houses during a span of six years, in the same city, changing every eleven months, as the lease period was restricted to eleven months. It was horrible to shift all household belongings like cupboard, cot, fridge, TV and other utensils every time I moved. Many a time I had to sell the furniture made of glass, at a cheap price, considering the difficulty and risks involved in carrying such items. Frequent changes of gas supplying agencies for LPG at different locations was time-consuming and sometimes a cumbersome procedure. Certain items were broken during shifting. Some landlords were found to be trouble makers, by keeping the main gates closed early in the night, restricting my entry at late hours due to late sitting at my office, for completing my projects in time. An additional key was given to me at my persistent insistence, for not troubling them at odd hours.

All these inconveniences made me to dream to own a permanent home in the city where I worked so that I can avoid paying rent and the brokerage every time I switched over to a new one. I started saving some funds out of my salary every month, compelling me to reduce extra spending on branded costly dresses and limiting my entertainment expenses gradually.

I visited several projects constructed by reputed builders in the city, collected and studied all information relating to each of their schemes, like total cost of the flat, time required for completion of the project, amenities provided, quality of the products used by them and the full payment structure. Then, I thought of availing a home loan for the remaining amount beyond my accumulated savings from a bank.

I finalised a project under construction and paid the token money to the builder. After making an agreement for sale between the builders and me, I got it registered with the office of Sub-Registrar. I availed the home loan from a bank who offered me the best and cheapest interest rate, by submitting them the necessary papers.

I made the payment to the builder as per the agreement and finally I got a letter from the builder informing that the project is ready for possession and to pay the last and final instalment. I arranged payment from the bank, I took loan. After three days, I visited the builder’s office and completed the remaining formalities before handing over the keys of the flat.

Finally, I got the keys to my flat and became a proud owner of my home, my long-cherished dream in my life coming true.

I once again shifted my household goods, permanently, to my own home on the next day itself and started sailing my new journey of life, in full peace.
