THE DEATH OF POOR SALEMAN

One day in the morning, there was a poor man named Raju. Raju lived in a small town near a village with his family. He was married to a girl from the same village named Priya. Raju and his wife had two children.

Raju worked as a small worker outside the village. One night, his wife Priya was waiting for him outside the house. When Raju came home very late, his wife asked him, “Why did you come so late?”

Raju replied, “I had some work at another shop, that is why I got late.”

Priya said, “Raju, why don’t you share something with me?”

Then Priya and Raju went inside the house. Priya prepared dinner for Raju. When Raju sat down to eat dinner, he started thinking about his work.

Suddenly Priya looked at Raju and asked, “What happened, Raju?”

Raju replied, “Nothing.”

Priya said, “You are hiding something from me.”

Raju answered, “There is nothing, Priya. Let’s go to sleep.”

The next morning, Raju woke up early and got ready for work. Priya was preparing breakfast and lunch for him.

Raju said, “Priya, bring my breakfast and lunch. I am getting late for work.”

Priya replied, “Yes, I am coming.”

Priya brought the breakfast and lunch to Raju. Then Raju took them in his hands and went to work.

In the afternoon, Raju sat near his shop to eat his lunch. Suddenly, a man came and stood in front of him.

The man asked, “What is your name?”

Raju did not reply to the man.

When Raju did not answer anything, the man became angry and slapped him in front of all the people. But Raju still did not say anything. After that, the man left the place.

In the evening, Raju came back home very early. Priya was working inside the room. When she saw Raju, she became shocked and worried because she noticed the injuries on his face.

Priya asked, “What happened, Raju?”

Raju did not reply and went to his bedroom without saying anything to his wife. But Priya followed him to the room and sat near him.

Priya asked again, “Raju, what happened?”

Raju said, “What are you asking, Priya?”

Priya replied, “I am asking you, Raju. What happened?”

Raju said, “Nothing happened.”

Priya said, “Please tell me, Raju.”

Finally, Raju replied, “Today afternoon, when I sat near my shop to eat my lunch, a man came in front of me and asked my name. When I did not reply, he became angry and misbehaved with me.”

Priya said, “Raju, you should leave that work and find another job.”

Raju replied, “Sorry, Priya. I cannot leave that work. This job gives me good money. If I leave this job, it will be difficult to find another job that pays well.”

Priya asked, “So what do you think? Will you leave that job or not?”

Raju said, “No, I cannot leave that job.”

Priya said, “Okay, but be careful of these types of people.”

Raju replied, “Don’t worry, Priya. I will take care of myself.”

The next morning, Raju got ready for work. Priya prepared different types of breakfast and lunch for him. Then Raju took the breakfast and lunch and went to work.

In the afternoon, the same man came to him and stood in front of him. The man asked the same question again, but Raju did not reply. The man started using bad words against him. Suddenly, the man hit Raju on the head with a rod.

No one was ready to help Raju. Raju became seriously injured. Finally, some people took Raju to the hospital.

At night, Priya was waiting for Raju at home. After a few hours, a man came to her house to inform her about Raju.

The man said, “Priya.”

Priya replied, “How are you?”

The man said, “I work near your husband’s shop.”

Priya said, “Okay, tell me, what happened?”

The man replied, “Your husband is in the hospital now.”

Priya said, “What? What happened to my husband?”

The man said, “Someone hit him on the head with a rod.”

Priya said, “I told my husband to be careful of these types of people. Where is he now? Which hospital?”

Then Priya went to the hospital with that man. When she reached the hospital, she tried to meet her husband inside the room.

But the doctor did not allow her to enter the room.

The doctor said, “Please leave the room.”

Priya said, “Please, doctor, give me permission to meet my husband.”

The doctor replied, “Please do not disturb the patient now. Please wait outside.”

The man said, “Priya, relax now. Nothing will happen to your husband.”

Priya replied, “I know, but he is in a very serious condition.”

After a few hours, the doctor came outside from the room and gave the news that Raju was no more.

Priya became very sad and emotional after hearing about Raju’s death.

Then the doctor handed over Raju’s dead body to his wife, Priya. Priya and some other people took Raju’s body to his house for the last rites.

In the end, they buried Raju’s body near the village. Priya and the children were very sad and emotional during Raju’s last rites.

The next day, Priya started a new life with her children. She began working to take care of them and give them a good education so that they could become good people in the future.

However, Priya continued to live her life without her husband Raju, carrying the sorrow of his loss in her heart.
