Super 60
Super 60
There was a girl named Enaya, born into an Army family; honesty and determination were in her blood.
She had a fantastic childhood hopping all around India. Army life gave her the chance to visit multiple places and learn something from each place and make new friends.
Her life since birth had some story to tell, her mother was in very critical condition while delivering Enaya, her relatives almost started to prepare themselves for the worst. They even decided that where Enaya would stay once her mother passes away, but destiny had a different role to play and she was born into a beautiful, loving Army family.
She soon grew into a teenager with heart of gold, respecting individuals and helping others was her motto in life. She was very clear since her early childhood of making her name in impacting lives of people in an inspirational way.
She pursued computer engineering in her 20’s and was campus placed in the top Multinational, while she worked for close to a decade, her heart was not satisfied. Alongside her work, she did address women and parenting forums and tried to help fellow women in her capacities like connecting like-minded women or teaching technology those women who were just beginning their careers or start-ups etc. But deep inside she wanted to do something more worthwhile. She kept wondering that what could give her more happiness and contentment? From there began the journey of self-contemplation.
She realized that for her the values which matter the most are love, respect and gratitude. Being, a mother herself and losing her father, life had already taught her value of relationships and how one feels when someone close leaves you behind.
While she saw her children grow, she would understand the loneliness of her mother too, who was staying in a village all by herself. She recalled how her father used to take care of her and she kind of felt helpless of not being able with her all the time. Due to her job and personal commitments shifting to village or keeping mother along permanently was also not the option.
She was doing good with her corporate job, but deep within she started feeling choked and extremely unhappy as this was not, she really wanted to do but circumstances did not allow her to do anything else as well. Days passed by and the whirlwind of emotions inside her kept asking what next? How to take control of life? How to make her existence more worthwhile.
She then decided to step out of her comfort zone, to realize her full potential, she knew the journey ahead will not be easy, but she was determined this time. She had left her “decade-old” corporate job to achieve her actual dream or at least try for it to avoid any regrets later.
She used her savings and took one small house with 2 rooms and a kitchen on rent and started an old age home. She named the house “60 + Super Minors” (Sixty Plus Super Minors). Soon there were few old couples who showed interest in staying there as their own children had disowned them, it was sad but bitter reality. Enaya understood the pain they are undergoing and decided to make those as part of her extended family, she kept cook for them and a 24-hour care taker to ensure they are attended well. Enaya used to visit these 60 + minors everyday and used to arrange some dance parties over the weekends.
All these housemates were well educated and had lot to share in terms of their experiences. Enaya was blessed with good written and verbal skills, she started capturing their teachings, learnings, mistakes and experiences and translated them into one book, which she later published with the name “60 Super tips @Super minors”. The book primarily spoke about mistakes they did in their lives, blind faith on children, property disputes and coping up with heartbreaks and cheatings etc. The book became the “Best Seller” and those super 60+ minors were rewarded and were called for TEDx shows to share their inspirational journey.
Soon “60+ Super minors” which began with 4-6 people was expanded and currently have around 60 such people who pursue their hobbies together in span of 2 years. Few of them have started their “Super 60 Bhajan Band” and play instruments such as flute, guitar and piano. They are invited in various functions and cultural events. Few of them have started “Super 60 Kitchen Dhaba” and cater for multiple family functions with traditional cuisines. They also have “Super 60 Home Remedies “where they suggest some home remedies for basic ailments. And their core club is “Super 60 Environment Friendly” where they extensively spread the message of cleanliness and performs cleaning activities at beaches and other public places and plant trees etc. And few others “Super 60 Chillax” just enjoy good food, music, chill & relax (Chillax).
Enaya had lost her father but these super 60 were her strength now, her children also visited them and spent time and listen to endless grandparent tales. Enaya who wanted to make a mark in the world had found her world already. She realized you need not to very big to bring in the change, if you bring smile on one face you have potential to change the world.
Her small step towards betterment of society is highly respected, some NGO’s have come in her support to encourage the cause. Her mother also joined her in this cause, and she is head of administration at “60 + Super minors”.
Enaya is living her dream, her small achievement has made her life fulfilling, she now spreads the message to fellow women to get up and achieve the dreams. As nothing is impossible, women have a lot of potentials and if they don’t realize they will rust.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”- Harriet Tubman
