It is Christmas! And, my friends - Jess, Sophie, and Ava are coming home tonight for a Christmas party!! Yep, they’re here! They all greet me and I ask them to come in. I show them all my Christmas tree and the treats! “Hey, have you heard the story of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?” Jess asks. “Of course, I’ve heard it a million times,” I say. “Clover,” Jess says to me. “Yesterday my younger brother was reading it... It’s quite interesting!” She widens her eyes. “Oh yes!” All agree. “Hey!” I remember something. “I think I have the storybook of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.” I start searching for my bookshelf. “Got it!” I say as I dust the book. I notice a small green key kept on page number 13. I take it out. “What is this?” Ava asks me. “I don’t know either,” I say. We start reading the story. Once, there was a reindeer who had a red nose and it shone, too. Everyone ignored him, called him names, and wouldn’t allow him to play with them.

“Hmm,” Ava says. “This is the same story we’ve heard.” After some discussion, we all have a nice party, and we eat all kinds of Christmas treats. “But what does that green key do on your book?” Asks Jess. “I don’t know. But let’s try it out!” We start searching the lock for the key. “Hey! The lock is on the book cover, itself!” I observe. We all gasp. I take the key and put it in the lock. As I turn it.......

Whoosh!! The book forms a hole in it and it sucks us up! “OOOHH NOOOOO!!!” Ava screams. And unfortunately, in my ears. Annoying. Very annoying. Well, it was no time to get annoyed. “Where are we falling?” Says Jess, getting anxious. “Coooooool!” Sophie says. “Calm down, everyone. We’ll find a way to get out of here.” I speak. We suddenly find ourselves in a land covered in snow. Everything looks as if candy is sprinkled with sugar. It was a heavenly sight. It was snowing. “Brrrrrr!” I shiver. I was wearing an eyelash yarn, though. “Look!” Ava points somewhere. “There is a village. I guess we can get help from there.” “Good Idea!” Sophie, Jess, and I say together. We shiver as we walk towards the village. We meet a woman. “Excuse me,” says Ava. “Can you please tell us what is this place?” “Good work, Ava!” I whisper to her. The woman notices us. “This is Finland. This village is called Rovaniemi.” Saying this, the woman went on her way. “Santa’s village!” We shout out with glee. When I notice a small house at the corner of the village. “Look!” I say. “We can get help from there.” Everyone agrees, and we walk towards the house. We ring the doorbell. Then, a gruff voice says, “Who’s there?” The door creeks as a large looking old man open the door. When I notice his large beard and his Santa cap. “Santaaaaa!” We all jump merrily. “Yes. I’m Santa Claus. So, you are the chosen ones this year. Come in!” We come to Santa's house. It’s warm and cozy. The house is decorated beautifully and there is a Christmas tree (Of course). We all sit on the sofa. How soft it was! “But we are chosen for what, Santa?” Sophie asks. “Every year, we choose four children who have been good for the whole year to distribute gifts among the children.” “So, we get to ride the sleigh too?” Jess asks excitedly. “Sure!” Santa replies. Yay!!

Santa served us some hot chocolate and gingerbread men – YUM! The doorbell rings again. I hear a soft voice of jingling bells. Santa opens the door and says, “HO HO HO!!! Welcome, Rudolph!” “RUDOLPH!” We all shout. When Rudolph enters the room, we all were dumbfounded. Guess what happens? Rudolph has a ‘GREEN’ nose instead of a red one. “What?” I hear Ava whispering. I rub my eyes and see again. It was still green. I was surely not dreaming. “But - but....” I start. “You are Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, right?” “No.” The reindeer speaks. “Then why is your nose so green?” Jess asks. Sophie nods. “Actually,” The reindeer starts. “My grandpa was Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. My dad is Rudolph the blue-nosed reindeer. They both retired so I guide the sleigh every Christmas now. And, by the way, I’m Rudolph the green nosed reindeer.” I couldn’t believe it. I quickly say, “Then why are you all named ‘Rudolph?’ You must be having different names, right?” The reindeer smiles and says, “Yes, you’re right. But because my grandpa was the best at guiding the sleigh, Santa decided to name the reindeers who guide the sleigh, Rudolph. So, Santa will not miss my grandpa, and if there is a reindeer named Rudolph, everyone will know that this reindeer had been guiding the sleigh once.” “Ok!” I start. “Nice to meet you, Rudolph!” “Yes, nice to meet you!” Everyone repeats. “Meet Clover, Jess, Sophie, and Ava!” Santa says. “Nice to see you,” Rudolph says.

“We’ll be leaving at 12 tonight.” Santa takes our empty snack plates in the kitchen. He comes back into the hall. “Your Christmas clothes are ready!” We all change our clothes and meet in the hall again. We all are wearing a knee-length red frock with white fur on the edges. We also have a Santa hat. “But where is Mrs. Claus? I have heard a lot about her.” Ava asks. Santa laughs. “HO HO HO! I’m glad you remember her. Well, she is busy bringing gifts for the children!” At the same moment, the doorbell rings. And guess who comes in? Mrs. Claus! “Oh, HELLLLLLLLLO there! Who are these pretty girls?” Santa explains that we are the selected ones. Mrs. Claus greets us, and Santa takes us to his backyard to show us his sleigh. It was beautiful and decorated with bells and lights. “You can sit in here,” Santa says. “Yippee!” Ava gets excited. We sit in Santa’s sleigh. Rudolph started running. He was looking magnificent while he ran in the crystal-clear snow, as it splashed here and there. It was feeling like an airplane when it is on its wheels, ready for take-off. I feel super cold. When- Rudolph is in the air!!!! Not only Rudolph, but for me, Santa, Ava, Sophie, and Jess! “Our first stop is Mandy’s home!” Santa says. I feel butterflies in my stomach. But that’s okay. It often happens to me when I get excited, and I’m in the air at the same time. Finally, we reach a big house. “This is Mandy’s home. Let me take her gift. You can help me push through the chimney.” I giggle under my breath. I feel funny imagining Santa going down the chimney. Santa takes a teddy-bear out of his gift sack. We push Santa inside the chimney. We look from outside the house window. There was a big, really big sock hung for the gift. Santa tiptoed inside the girl’s bedroom and kept the teddy bear in the sock.

Till now, we had given many children gifts. Even my friends and I had visited some homes to keep the gift in the sock. It was really fun. A boy called Tom got a car, another boy, Ron got a fishing rod, and a pair of twins, Dorothy and Dora got a dollhouse and many more. It was nearly 4 ‘o clock in the morning. “This is our last stop!” Santa says. “This is Jasper’s home.” Santa digs into his bag. “Jasper’s robot should be here.” He digs more. “Where is it? OH NO! We have lost his gift!” We all gasp. “You can check in the sleigh,” I suggest. Santa agrees, and checks in the sleigh. “Not here, either.” UH-OH. What to do now? “I can help!” A voice pops out. It was Rudolph. “Rudolph?” Santa says. “I can search it with the help of my nose!” Rudolph smiles. “Yes!” I agree. So, Rudolph walks with his nose pointing down. His glowing nose helped us see clearly in the darkness. After fifteen minutes of walking, we find nothing. Jasper’s robot quite seemed to have disappeared. “Santa!” Rudolph shouts out. He was standing near a heap of snow. We come to him. “Jasper’s robot! Rudolph, you are so smart! So, when we were riding in the sleigh, the robot must have slipped from the sack and fallen here.” Santa gets impressed. “YAY! Good work, Rudolph!” We shout. We go to Jasper’s home. Santa goes into his bedroom and silently comes out. Jasper got his gift, at last. All because of Rudolph!!

We set off to Santa’s home. Mrs. Claus greets us. “So,” She starts. “Because you children, including Rudolph, have been so nice, you deserve a gift!” Hey! I completely forgot about our reward. Actually, I was not expecting it! But I love gifts. “YAYYYY!” All shout. Santa gives me, Ava, Jess, and Sophie a cute locket. It had the charm of Rudolph the green nosed reindeer and Santa. “Whenever you want to come here, Just hold the locket and say,

Locket, locket hear me wish,

Take me to Santa’s world with just a swish!”

“Cool!” I say. Santa continues. “It will also grant all your wishes. Put the locket in water and say,

Locket, locket, here I plead,

On my wishes, pay some heed.

And then tell your wish. And after that, you can take the locket out of the water.

“Thank you so much, Santa and Mrs. Claus!” I say. All others agree. We take the key to go back home. Mrs. Claus gives us a book. I turn the key on the book’s lock. The book takes us home safe and sound. When my friends were home first, It was 7 o'clock. It was still 7. “So, we went back in time!” I say as we rejoice. So now, every Christmas, we sing our Christmas song which is the best of all:

You know Abby and Mars and Joey and Alan,

Splasher and Carson and Cooper and Dalen.

But do you recall,

The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the green nosed reindeer,

Had a very shiny nose,

Whenever you’ll go to him,

You would even notice it glows.

All of the reindeer loved him,

As they always said with glee,

Rudolph the green nosed reindeer,

Come along and play with me!

Then one merry Christmas eve,

Santa lost his last gift,

Rudolph, with his nose so bright,

Said that he can help in delight.

Santa was very impressed,

As he jumped up merrily,

Come on our dear Rudolph,

Do your work very warily.

After some time of searching,

Rudolph shouted and jumped,

"Santa, with your carelessness,

The gift, here you had dumped."

All of the other Reindeer,

Said that they’d never knew,

"Rudolph, we found Santa’s gift,

That too all because of you!”
