Subhasish reached the station at par of the midnight. Here and there, everywhere reigns darkness. Only, the light post beside the station master's house was giving off fade light in this dense darkness. For an unknown unavoidable reason, the Chakradharpur passenger was late for three hours. The whole surrounding was in pin-drop silence.

Hopelessly, Subhasish walked out of the station, Garhdhruveswar. The total environment was nightmarish. Fortunately, Subhasish found a rickshaw outside the station. The rickshaw-wala (owner of the rickshaw) was covering himself totally in a wrapper. The outside environment was very cold, the foggy dark horizon was blurred with thick frost and smoke. A cold wind was blowing kissing Subhasish's whole body freshening his soul. His long hairs along his neck were flowing. So thrilling oozy winter night!

Subhasish, fully weary of the extreme toils of Civil Service, now got some kind of pleasure. He was returning to his native village, Mathaburu. He felt homesick. With a dazzling smile on his handsome face, he asked the owner of the rickshaw if he would take him to Mathaburu that night!

Deep in his mind, Subhasish was tensed, he was anxious. Deep in his mind, was the gnawing fear, the fear of the unknown. That night was a new moon night! Subha was very well-aware of the fact that the muddy path to Mathaburu, would pass through the wretched, haunted, horrible, scary cremation ground where at that very night, would wander about the Darindaa ( fierce cannibal evil). The tantalizing myth would mention that the horrible cannibal would look for his prey in the dense darkness and he would deceive, baffle and misguide his victim in the disguise of human form. Suddenly, at that very thought, Subhasish got horrified. His fear reached its zenith when the ricksha-wala agreed with his risky proposal without any single hesitation! He stretched his hand covered with thick furs and distorted with long sharp nails to collect his money. Subhasish got shocked and the next moment, he realized the ricksha-wala could be an insane alcoholic also.

"Many poor people are alcoholic here", he thought.

Suddenly it started drizzling. Cool air began to pin into the body. The poor rickshawala was driving his rickshaw along the undulating, muddy path through the dense Sal forest. Suddenly, the illusion due to chronic alcoholism of the rickshawala, started to fade away and so his courage level begins to drop. He became conscious of the fact that he was heading to the cursed cremation ground infested with horror. His whole body started to sweat. The blood in his veins seemed to curdle! He trembled in fear.

And Subhasish! Then suddenly the fear prevailing in his mind started to fade away and he started to feel the never-satisfied thirst, the thirst for human blood!! An evil smile played on his beautiful, polite face!!

The next morning, the local villagers became terrified to find the dead body ( clad with flesh and blood) of that very unfortunate poor rickshawala. They became sure of the fact that last night the Darindaa ( the fierce devil) had come out to search his prey. He had finally been successful to devour his prey, the poor soul rickshawala. Then to loving and caring Almighty, they began to pray.

Conclusions: A poor, wretched, malnourished and dirty person must not be evil. Evil can live even in a polite, handsome, educated,well-nourished, rich, young person in a disguise. After all, it is said "Man is a social animal".
