It was a bright and sunny morning and the sun shone down from the clear sky through the windows of her bedroom as Dr Elsie Shaw woke up thinking about how today was hopefully going to be a great day. Dr Elsie Shaw was a petite woman with vivid blue eyes and long luscious curls that fell on her shoulders. She was one of the finest detectives in all of France. People from all over the country would come to seek advice from her.

Dr Elsie decided to step out for a walk as the sun shone over the charming city of Paris. As she walked the aroma of freshly baked bread lingered in the air. She could hear birds chirping all around her and she took comfort in the chirping of the birds. Suddenly the sound of the chirping birds was interrupted by the sound of a ringtone, Dr Elsie’s phone was ringing. It was from the police station where she worked. She picked it up wondering what it could be about as it was her day off and so she wasn’t expecting any calls from the station.

The person on the other side was her partner, Detective Jean Paul together they were the finest detective team in all of France, telling her there had been a murder and that the station needed her. He told her to be there as soon as she could as it was an important case one that needed to be started as soon as possible. She headed back to her house as fast as she could. She got ready and was out the door at breakneck speed.

She arrived at the office to be greeted by swarms of newsmen who tried to ask her questions. Being used to the newsmen she rushed in without saying a thing, but the newsmen got her wondering who the murder victim was. As soon as she reached her office, she met the Detective. He was a burly man with dark brown eyes and tan skin. He was after her the best detective in France.

He started briefing her on the case. The murder victim was the daughter of the vice president of the country. She was victim to a single close-range gunshot wound to the back of the head. Her phone and wallet were still on her, so it meant that it was not a robbery gone bad but an intended murder. There was no evidence of struggle indicating she knew the person that attacked her. The bullet was lodged in her skull and was extracted and turned out to be twenty-two calibre bullet. The gun had still not been found and the crime scene unit was still canvassing the crime scene looking for fingerprints or a hair to match to DNA.

The crime tech unit was trying to unlock her phone to find out call history and so on. Dr Elsie and Detective Jean left to go meet the vice president to find out if she knew anyone who could have done it. The Vice president was in tears having lost her husband last year itself. She gave them an alibi for herself and told them that her daughter was a person who was loved by all. She also told them that she had a boyfriend, who the Vice president doesn’t think did it because he had been out of town for the past week. He worked for the Defence Attorney’s office, So, they didn’t think much of it and kept it at the back of their mind. They found out that the victim was working at a large tech company where she wrote code and programmed apps.

After gaining nothing fruitful from the Vice president the went to the office of the tech company where the victim worked. There also found out that the victim didn’t have any enemies. Except for a lot of them heard her arguing on the phone with someone a few days ago which they all found weird. A lot of them also said that she didn’t really like to talk about her home and her personal life, and they decided to let her have her privacy.

They returned to the station wondering what the phone call was about and who it was from. A few minutes later the head of the crime tech unit called them saying that the phone had been unlocked. They hurried to the first floor to his office to see her text messages and call history. They saw that there was a weird call to an unknown number in the time frame given to them by the colleagues of the mysterious call.

The tried to trace the number but it only led to a burner phone. They felt that they had reached a dead end when the Dr came up with an idea to call the number and find out who it was. They called the number hoping someone would pick up and they could figure out who it was. The person who answered sounded a little distressed as though he didn’t understand who could have called the burner phone. The police station was able to track the location of the burner phone at that point of time and it turned out to be a coffee house just a few blocks away.

When the cops reached there, they found the boyfriend and picked him up. The moment he entered the station and the Dr and Detective started interrogating him he confessed to the murder and told them where the gun was. He said he did it because he found out that she was cheating on him. He had already planned the murder and told everyone that he was off to Lyon for the week when in fact he wasn’t he then saw the victim with another man he saw red and followed her to her apartment and told her that his trip got cancelled. She believed him and let him in as soon as she turned he shot her and ran away.

The Dr had added another solved murder to her victories. Now all that was left for her to do was to wait for the phone to ring with the news of another murder for her to solve.
